Planning Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is a city of approximately one million people, predicted to grow to three million by 2030.  A team of international experts led by Larry Beasley prepared a strategic plan to guide the growth of the city - Plan Abu Dhabi 2030.

Nathan Alexander was brought in to implement the strategic plan.  This included:
  • establishing a state planning agency, the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council
  • identifying all actions recommended by the report and detailing their current status
  • progressing the highest priority recommendations
  • advancing the design of a new capital district
  • advancing the design of a new city centre on Suwwah Island.
  • assessing development proposals worth hundreds of billions of dollars, including Masdar eco-city.
